HOME COLLECT™ FAQ
- You have COVID-19 symptoms.
- Your doctor recommended you get tested.
- You want to be tested for travel, camp, or sports purposes.
- You’ve had close contact with someone who tested positive for COVID-19.
You MUST drop off your sample on the same day you collect. Samples should only be collected Monday-Friday and Saturday morning. Shipping services do not operate on Sundays. Please note pick up times may vary depending on location. Refer to the UPS store or drop location near you. You will receive a secured email with your results.
Yes, you may order more than one test at a time. Please note, each test ordered for someone other than yourself, requires information for each additional person you order a HomeCollect™ kit.
Many travel destinations require RT-PCR COVID-19 Test results before entry. The HomeCollect™ Kit is the preferred COVID-19 testing method for many travel requirements. Many destinations require negative results within a very short timeframe. Included in your digital results will be a printable version that you can share. We recommend that you reach out to your destination’s government for their specific requirements and timelines before making your purchase.
While we are not able to provide an exact estimate of when you will receive your results, keep in mind the typical turnaround time for results is 24-48 hrs.
As a reminder:
- Order Delivery: ADL estimates that you will receive your HomeCollect™ kit within 1-3 business days of placing your order.
- Returning Sample to Lab: once you ship your sample, the laboratory should receive the sample the following business day to start processing. Note that UPS does not operate on Sunday’s.
- Results: results are typically available within 24-48 hours after the lab begins processing the sample.
If you are concerned that your schedule is too tight to allow for unforeseen delays, we recommend that you check with the laboratory. Every destination has its own unique entry requirements.

Your COVID-19 Home Collection test Kit will come with everything you need to collect a sample at home and safely ship your sample back to our CLIA-certified laboratory.

For your convenience, ADL provides a demonstration video for a successful nasal collection. This video is available in English and Spanish.
You will use the provided materials to collect a lower nasal (anterior nares) sample using a swab.
To get your sample to our laboratory as quickly as possible, we provide a prepaid UPS Next Day Air shipping label. We strongly recommend that you drop off your sample at a UPS Store. If a UPS Store is not in your area, utilize a UPS drop box before the last pick up of the day. Please note, UPS drop boxes do not operate on weekends. It is preferred you utilize a UPS Store location to submit your sample and get a shipment receipt from the UPS Store.
Customers who do not use a UPS Store location to submit their sample may experience a delay in shipping which can result in delayed results. You can find drop box locations on the UPS website.
YOUR SAMPLE WILL BE REJECTED IF:
- The swab is not in the tube containing the transport medium solution.
- The tube is not sealed and in the biohazard bag.
- Your name and date of birth is not provided on the tube.
Results are typically available within 24-48 hours after the lab begins processing the sample. The laboratory processes tests Monday-Saturday. You will receive an email notification when your results are ready.
Once your test is completed, ADL Health will provide an itemized receipt that will contain the information you will need to apply for reimbursement directly from your health insurance provider. We always recommend checking with your benefits provider about coverage, especially if you are purchasing multiple tests.
